Interested in gifting a piece to our collection? As they related to the Inn’s history as a farmhouse and tavern, furniture, silver, ceramics, pewterware, glass, and textiles dating prior to 1859 and in good condition are examples of items of interest - especially when accompanied by strong family histories. Memorabilia of importance to Anne Arundel County or the known families who owned and/or resided in the Inn prior to its gifting in 1916 to the Ann Arundel Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters’ of the American Revolution regardless of date are acceptable.
E-mail a photograph of the object along with the overall measurements, current condition, and all available historical information. Genealogical information concerning the ownership of an object is always of interest and pertinent to the files. If an object was purchased from an antique dealer, please include the name and address of the dealer, along with the date it was acquired, are essential pieces of information.
Because of space considerations, the Rising Sun Inn may not accept every item offered as a gift. The decision to accept any object is determined by judging the object’s date, origin and condition, and after consideration of its value to the collection. Accepted items are gifted with titles that are free and clear, without restrictions as to use or future disposition.
